Version 1.1
I Will Update This JournalI have been tagged by QueenSerenity2012 to do the Spec Evo Game, in which I have to write a journal of speculative evolution based off the scenario that I was challenged to speculate on. This was my challenge:
The Urban Jungle
Fast forward 5,000 years. Humanity has gone extinct long ago due to a combination of climate change and lack of resources. Crumbling remnants of enormous cities the size of New York City number in the thousands. These once bustling cultural and social centers now host a massive variety of plants and animals; all opportunists encroaching and now enveloping the forest in their grasp. Such environments of concrete and steel overgrown with thousands of tons of fungi and flora are so common that they can be considered a significant biome. What sort of organisms are developing in this world? Is it wildlife or feral descendants of domesticated species which rule the ruins? What sort of plants thrive in an environment where trees cannot take root?
I've decided to only do Adelaide, because I know alot of the animals from there and I'm familiar with the environment.
ENVIRONMENT STUFF (including plants and fungi)
Mammals to note: Eastern Grey Kangaroo, Koala, Feral Cat, Possum
Australian Fox Vulpes vulpes australis
It is roughly the same size as it's ancestor, the European Fox, but it has larger eyes, shorter hair and legs, and it's got a much darker coat. V. v. australis mostly nocturnal, living mainly in the hills, with a smaller population in the city forest.
Bush Dog Canis lupus silvai
The C. l. silvai is the largest predator in the Adelaide forest, standing 75cm (2.5') off the ground. It is built similarly to C. l. lupus, although slightly more slender. It's colouration is similar to Lycaon pictus, but much finer.
Goat Capra aegagrus hircus
Bush Cow Bos taurus novaehollandiae
Horse Equus ferus caballus
Sheep Ovis aries
Shorthorn Deer Odocoileus virginianus
Birds to note: Peregrine Silver Gull, Falcon, Rock Dove, Crested Pigeon,
Ostrich
Forest Emu
Peafowl
Red Junglefowl
Dwarf Cockatoo
Brown Galah
Wedge-Tailed Eagle
Wood Duck
Australian Raven
Grey Currawong
Australian Magpie
Brown Snake
Common Skink
Goanna
My Scenario: Not 100% Gone
It's a simple concept, for some reason or another, many (non avian) dinosaurs survived the mass extinction, and survived and thrived well into the Paleogene, alongside similarly sized mammals. Now you decide what happens over the next 23 million years (you only have to describe the animals from this timelines now). And for simplicity's sake the climate and plants stay pretty much the same as in our timeline.

I Have An Inspiration Blog Now
I've actually had it for a while, but I'm only sharing it now, here's the link. It's also linked in my profile too :) https://ashley-patch-inspiration.tumblr.com/
Comissions
If anyone wants to get a commission from me, now you can!
All my prices are flexible, these are more like points on a spectrum of price:complexity
My commission email is ashleypatchart@gmail.com
$25 - Simple background, portrait or full body shot. Price increases slightly with more animals.
$35 Simple landscape. Price increases with complexity and detail.
$50 Complex landscape. Same rules apply as with the simple landscapes, as well as a price increase depending on image size.
Thanks to all who have taken the time to look at these prices.
I Need Your Help Please
I'm trying to find this paper: Rich, T. and Rich, P. (1989). “Polar dinosaurs and biotas of the Early Cretaceous of southeastern Australia.” National Geographic Research, 5(1): 15-53. I cannot find it at all except for in references, not even a hard copy of it. I'd really appreciate it if one of you could be able to find it.
Update: Someone on Facebook found it for me.
